Our Toddlers and Preschoolers Program in Richmond Hill
Toddlers
Toddlers are generally 18 months to 2 ½ years old; we can accept a minimal amount of children under 18 months. The ratio for toddlers is 5 children to 1 teacher but we always have more teachers than required for this age.
Toddlers are at an amazing age: they are naturally curious and eager to learn and explore. Our teachers provide your child with the tools and guidance to express themselves through dance, music, art and play. The experiences and engagement with other children and the teachers your child will receive in our toddler program are the foundation every child deserves. Your toddler will feel welcome, cared for safe and happy.
As in our other programs, we focus on their well-being, belonging expression and engagement. Toddlers will go outside every morning and afternoon and will have a 2-hour sleep/quiet time from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. When the weather does not permit outdoor play, we use our indoor gym where they can run, dance, play and ride toys.
Preschoolers
In Richmond Hill, preschool programs are generally for children between 2 ½ and 4 years old. It provides more independence than our toddler program and we encourage your child to be curious, competent and capable. The ratio for preschool is 8 children to 1 teacher but we often have extra staff available to assist in the rooms and outdoor play.
We have three big bright preschool rooms that are stocked with all the necessary tools for children to learn through play, exploration, creative art, music and science. In addition to the classrooms, we have amazing park-like outdoor playgrounds, an in-ground pool open during July and August as well as a big indoor gym for days that the weather doesn't allow us to go outside.
Our teachers all have been trained on the “How Does Learning Happen” approach to teaching; this means our teachers know how to create interesting learning experiences based on your child’s interests. The teachers first get to know each child, through engaging and exploring with them. Those experiences are then brought into the classroom to make learning fun and enjoyable.
